Thanks for playing "The White Bull"! To play the game, you'll need an interpreter compatible with TADS 3.1. Older interpreters that have not been updated for 3.1 compatibility WILL NOT WORK. At this writing (March 11, 2012), the most reliable cross-platform interpreter is QTads (available from http://qtads.sourceforge.net/downloads.shtml). On a Windows computer, you can instead use the current version of HTML TADS (available from http://www.tads.org/tads3.htm). Windows users can also run the game as a free-standing app by double-clicking the file WhiteBull.exe. "The White Bull" includes nine short music cues. These are not necessary to the progress of the game, but if you turn on your computer's sound system before playing, you may find that the music adds a little something. The maps, as noted on the maps themselves, are not guaranteed to be correct or complete. In particular, if you do everything right, there are three locations on the maps that you will neither need to nor be able to visit. They exist strictly as optional pathways that will become available if you've gotten yourself into some particular difficulty. The walkthrough (white_bull_walkthru.txt) contains a bare list of commands with which you can begin and complete the game. The game itself includes a more readable walkthrough, which you can access using the command WALK TEXT. Please be aware that if you use the walkthrough, you'll be skipping past numerous details of the story. "The White Bull" is a difficult and somewhat cruel game. Please save your game each time you've moved the story forward in any significant way. Complete context-sensitive hints are included in the game, and if you read carefully you'll also find quite a lot of suggestions about what you need to do, or avoid doing. Even so, your progress may be uneven. (You may find that a little knowledge of Greek mythology will come in handy here or there.) Bug reports should be sent to midiguru23@sbcglobal.net.
